With the amount of sports there are and how far back in history sports goes, it is close to impossible to remember or name all of the best duo’s in history. It is also close to impossible to narrow it down to the best ever. I gave it a go with my top-5 duo’s in sports history.
Michael Jordan & Scottie Pippen – This is probably the easiest one to pick. Neither one of them won without the other, and when they were together fully, it was six for six on NBA Titles with that being two three-peats.
Tom Brady & Rob Gronkowski – These two have won multiple NFL Super Bowls together, including one on a different team than their original which is why Gronk gets the nod over Bill Belichick as the other part of the duo with Brady. They were always able to count on each other in the clutch and when things got tough.
Kobe Bryant & Shaquille O’Neal – These two also won multiple NBA Championships together. The only shame in this duo, is that it was shorter together than we would have hoped to have seen.
Joe Montana & Jerry Rice – A legendary connection that led to multiple NFL Super Bowl titles back in the late eighties and early nineties. Jerry caught 386 passes from Joe for 6,710 yards, and 67 touchdowns including the two Super Bowls. They were quite the tandem.
Magic Johnson & Kareem Abdul Jabbar – These two won five NBA Championships together with the LA Lakers. As great as Magic was, it was nice for him to come into a franchise with the history and roster the Lakers had upon his arrival. He became the new age excitement of the Showtime Lakers as Kareem got older, but was still able to put up numbers in all categories. These may even need to be higher on this list.
