PGA Tour: A Season For the Ages Before July

It didn’t take the world’s number one golfer long to get back into the winner’s circle. Scottie Scheffler fought through protestors and Tom Kim to take home the Travelers Championship crown in a one-hole playoff this past weekend. This victory was not a wire-to-wire win. He had to come from behind, he needed a little luck, some patience through chaos, and of course a ton of skill. Scottie’s win at yet another signature event on the PGA Tour was his sixth win of the year. It is the first time since 1962 that someone has had six wins on tour before July, and the last person to do that was the legendary Arnold Palmer. If that isn’t impressive enough, that was his sixth win out of his last 10 starts. The tournaments he has won are the Arnold Palmer Invitational, THE Players Championship, the Masters, the RBC Heritage, the Memorial, and of course the previously mentioned Travelers Championship. This is also the first time someone has won six times in a single season since Tiger Woods did it in 2009, and Scheffler has done it before July which is INSANE!

We can take this incredible accomplishment another step as Scottie Scheffler is only the 4th player in the last 40 years to win 6+ times in a single season on tour. You’ve had Nick Price do it in 1994, Vijay Singh in 2004, and Tiger Woods has done it in six different seasons. When you put yourself on lists like this, with these types of names, you are headed to a Hall of Fame, legendary career. Scheffler’s earnings on tour just this year so far are $27,696,858 with more to come after winning 5/8 signature events. The next PGA Tour stop is in Detroit, Michigan at the Rocket Mortgage Classic from June 27th through the 30th. Scheffler will be taking a much deserved break from this tournament as he is currently not listed in the field. Of course all things are subject to change, but we believe right now the next tournament he is scheduled to appear in is the Genesis Scottish Open in North Berwick which is supposed to be his tune-up before the final Major of the year as The Open Championship takes place on July 18th through the 21st at Royal Troon in South Ayrshire which is a town in Scotland. I personally hope he keeps his winning ways, because there is nothing I love more than seeing greatness, and watching legendary performances. We don’t get those very often, so when the opportunities present themselves, I’m all in.
