Overreacting To Rory's Reaction

I think we can all agree that Rory Mcllroy choked on the final hole of this past weekend’s 124th US Open Championship at Pinehurt’s #2. That short putt would have kept him in a tie with eventual winner Bryson DeChambeau, and we would have gotten a playoff. We all saw the putt for Par miss right of the hole. Now the internet is imploding because we also saw Rory immediately leave the course and decline to speak to the media. He’s getting bashed for not sticking around because Bryson did when Xander beat him out a few weeks prior in the last Major Championship on tour.

Let me start out by saying that even on your best day, you are nowhere near the height of your field like Rory is in his. You’ve never had to deal with the pressure he’s had to deal with. So, you have no clue how you’d process that moment. You’d never be there so don’t bother thinking you might know how you’d do. Also, Xander flat out won that tournament and beat out Bryson. Rory beat himself and failed himself opening the door for someone else. How those two lost are two totally different scenarios. So naturally the reactions are going to be totally different. Bryson is also working overtime to rebuild his image to the masses because it was badly needed, so he’s going to go above and beyond to make that happen. You look emotionally and mentally stupid if you’re bashing Rory for the early exit. Say classless all you want, but you’re response to a success you’ll never have is low IQ stuff and I can tell you don’t understand the biggest moments and what they can do to the mental right after.

Now let’s address the USA chants when Bryson won. It wasn’t a slight or some intelligent quip to dig at Rory. As a matter of fact, most of Sunday the crowd was split between chants of Rory and chants of USA all afternoon. Whether you want to believe it or not, Rory is more popular in the golf world globally than Bryson is. You just don’t see it because you’re not smart enough to realize there is a whole world out there. So we can also stop the narrative of the USA against Rory. So, wipe the chip grease off your face, clean-up your mother’s basement, and realize you’re just an emotional moron. Rory doesn’t owe you or anyone else anything. Especially after he laid it all out there on a huge stage and lost. People process failure in different ways, and the ONLY way that is wrong is a way that hurts someone else, which nothing he did by exiting quickly did to anyone. Grow up, smarten up, and move on.
