NFL: Week 1 Reactions

We finally got some real NFL football this past weekend, and with that, the 2024 season is in full force. You know we had to jump on it and give our week one reactions the only way we know how.

  1. The Cleveland Browns played one of the most embarrassing home debuts I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying a lot considering we are talking about the Browns. This franchise, no matter how hard they try, can just never seem to get it right enough. They got smacked by the Dallas Cowboys in Cleveland by a final score of 33-17, and it didn’t even look competitive at all. As a matter of fact, Cleveland only had one first down in the entire first half. One.

  2. Rookie quarterback and the first pick in the NFL Draft Caleb Williams started for the Chicago Bears in their regular season opener and got the win. However, he really didn’t do anything to contribute in the way the experts said he would. The most positive thing for him was that he didn’t screw up the victory that the defense got the team by defeating the Tennessee Titans 24-17. The Bears had three field goals, returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, and also returned an interception for a touchdown.

  3. The New York Giants SUCK! The Carolina Panthers SUCK! That’s the only explanation or reaction needed for those two teams right now. The Minnesota Vikings manhandled the Giants by a score of 28-6, and the New Orleans Saints hammered the Carolina Panthers by a final of 47-10.

  4. If Baker Mayfield can consistently play like he did in week one, he’ll be at the top of an MVP discussion. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers outplayed the Washington Commanders 37-20. Baker’s stat line was equally as impressive going 24/30, 289 yards, 4 touchdowns, and ZERO interceptions. He wouldn’t be good everywhere, but he found a place he has a potential to be great. Sometimes all it takes is one.

  5. The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs pick up where they left off with a big opening win against the Baltimore Ravens 27-20 in a game that came down to the last play. Could we actually see a three-peat in the NFL this season? Do they stay the favorite until they are dethroned?
