NFL: Predicting the 2024 NFC North
The Pro Football Hall of Fame festivities have begun in Canton, Ohio. That is the unofficial beginning to the upcoming NFL football season. With the preseason right around the corner, it was time for us to start the series of predicting each division and their winner from both the NFC and the AFC. We have already done the NFC West and NFC South, and now we are moving on to the NFC North, which to me is a toss-up, two team race.
Green Bay Packers – This was a tough decision between the Packers and the team right below them, as I think it will be a toss-up between these two teams. I think if Jordan Love can stay healthy and get his administration stuff worked out, he is going to have a good year. He’s now had enough reps under his belt to take the next step in leading this franchise. I also like this roster, the staff, and the guys added in the offseason and through the draft. My coin flip took Green Bay.
Detroit Lions – Coming in a VERY close second is the team that used to be the laughing stock from the Motor City. Dan Campbell is the perfect coach for this team and this city. A tough nosed, no nonsense guy is pulling this franchise from the fire and they have a real shot at taking the next step. I love their roster in a lot of spots, but I think they may regress just enough to miss out on the top spot in this division. Again, this was a coin flip between them and the team above them.
Chicago Bears – They hit the Draft lottery and their personnel got 100% better. However, that’s going to take at least a year for those guys to get real NFL time and reps under their belt for that success to show up and pay off. On paper this team looks bound to take the next step, but they are also extremely green and it will show.
Minnesota Vikings – I had to put them at the bottom, because they are bombing on the most important position in all of sport. Currently their Quarterback room is one of nothingness, and although they have one of the best targets in Justin Jefferson to help them out, it isn’t going to make too much of a difference this year. These guys will get in the way of a lot of wins when a good defense with a good scheme outsmarts them above the shoulder. It matters folks, and the Vikings will fall this season.
