NFL: Predicting the 2024 AFC West

The Pro Football Hall of Fame festivities have begun in Canton, Ohio. That is the unofficial beginning to the upcoming NFL football season. With the preseason right around the corner, it was time for us to start the series of predicting each division and their winner from both the NFC and the AFC. We have already done all of the NFC, and now we move on to the AFC where we will start with the AFC West. This is possibly the easiest of them all to choose yet again.

Kansas City Chiefs – Coming off back to back Super Bowl wins and three of the last five, I have no reason to believe they won’t easily take the AFC West yet again. I would even go as far to say that they are my favorite to win the Super Bowl for a third time, but winning three in a row is even more of rarified air.

Los Angeles Chargers – I have them coming in second in this division for a few different reasons. First, they have a new sheriff on the headsets as Jim Harbaugh is the head coach now, and the guy knows how to win at any level as he’s coming off leading the Michigan Wolverines to a National Championship. The other reason is their roster and Quarterback compared to the rest of the teams left to choose from in this one-sided division.

Denver Broncos – These last two teams were a coin flip to me as far as who finished last and who finished just above that. I like the coach better in Denver as he has a Super Bowl victory on his resume, and I like the Quarterback selections a little better in their QB room as opposed to the team I picked below them. It doesn’t matter because this division easily belongs to KC.

Las Vegas Raiders – I have the Raiders finishing last in the AFC West after finishing 2nd last year. I truly believe the other teams got better in the offseason compared to Las Vegas. Things are always different when you get your first head coaching job in the league like Antonio Pierce. I think his guys will buy in to him more than the previous coaches, but I also think it will take him a few years to show us the impact on the field as far as moving up in the final standings.
