NFL: Predicting the 2024 AFC South

The Pro Football Hall of Fame festivities have begun in Canton, Ohio. That is the unofficial beginning to the upcoming NFL football season. With the preseason right around the corner, it was time for us to start the series of predicting each division and their winner from both the NFC and the AFC. We have already done all of the NFC, and the AFC West; and now we move on to the AFC South. This division holds a special place for me as it has my favorite team in it. However, I did not pick them to win it this year.

Houston Texans – CJ Stroud is that guy and now that he has even more experience under his belt with great success, and add in the fact the franchise is doing a good job so far building around him; I think they take the AFC South this year like they did last year. They are just going to keep getting better and I like the pieces to this roster.

Indianapolis Colts – This is my favorite team that I mentioned above and I do like their roster and their standout players in key positions. However, I think they are a year behind schedule as Quarterback Anthony Richardson who I believe will be really good, had to sit out most of the year last year due to injury. I think if they keep building around him, and himself, Michael Pittman, and Jonathan Taylor stay healthy; they could easily give the Texans a run for their money for years to come. This team could end up being really really good in a year or two.

Jacksonville Jaguars – I think they are regressing again this season as they finished 2nd in the division last year. As much as I like Trevor Lawrence, and as talented as he is, he still needs to start hitting that next level if that impact is going to be felt in the playoffs in anyway. This division has the potential to be very tough top to bottom, and the Jags will need to do a better job, faster at hitting that next level. I don’t think it is this year though.

Tennessee Titans – These guys could easily finish anywhere between last and 2nd in this division. They are one of the tougher ones to figure out in the offseason. They finished last in the division last year and I don’t think they did enough in the offseason to change that this season. Will Levis has a chance to be really good, but he’s also going to need some help to make that happen. It looks like he’s got a pretty good Receiving core now and that could help, but they’ll still need to keep him upright and play defense to have a real shot.
