NBA: My Top 3, Want Them To Get A Ring

There are a lot of players that are active in the current NBA that don’t have rings. Quite a few of them are stars of the game. In today’s landscape of ring chasing just to have one, I always have said it has watered down the accomplishment. What makes winning the ultimate prize in any game is the fact that not everyone gets to do it. That’s the way it is supposed to be, so I’m always ok with great players not getting to the top of the mountain, because that’s just how it is. Ask Charles Barkley and Karl Malone. However, we seem to be running out of those types as everyone fails and then latches on to a team that can just hand them the ring which makes it less impressive.
I was recently asked in a discussion about the NBA if I had a guy or two that I wished could win a title even though I have the thought process I do. So, I decided to just rattle off my top three I’d like to see win their first NBA Title. It has nothing to do with most deserving or who I’m a fan of more than the other. They almost all are deserving. I’m a fan of most, but the top 3 players that are active in today’s game I’d like to see get a ring are:
Chris Paul – Takes a lot of heat from fans, and most are just that, fans; that don’t realize the true talent of Paul and how he stacks up with his skill at his position in history.
Damien Lillard – One of the most loyal and real athletes in my entire life. This dude busts his ass for a forgotten franchise that is tucked away in the top corner of the country. He could possibly be the one you could truly say is the MOST deserving at this point.
Jimmy Butler – He is one of the most skilled players in today’s game that gets put behind some guys he probably shouldn’t be put behind. He’s been on the cusp a few times, but couldn’t get over the hump. For about 2 weeks each season you start to see headlines asking if he’s a top 3-5 player in this league, and then when he falls short, those questions go away as fast as they showed up. We should probably keep asking it or don’t ask it at all.
There are numerous other guys that could be on a list like that. Guys like Paul George, Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, or Harden. I like my three as to who I’d like to see get one over any of these guys right now.
