CFB: The 3 JayBird Talks Week 5 Headlines

  1. “The Georgia Bulldogs Are Still #1 As They Should Be”– They are the back-to-back National Champions and haven’t lost a game since the SEC Title game in 2021. During a run like that, there are going to be times that you play a less than stellar game against any opponent at any time. What makes a great team great is going on the road against a rival when you are not at your best and STILL come away with a win. That is what UGA did this past weekend. Everyone calling for their number one spot isn’t smart enough to have an opinion. I’ll take them down IF they have too many close games against lesser opponents or when they finally lose one. For all Michigan fans, going to Lincoln, Nebraska isn’t comparable right now to going to Jordan-Hare Stadium so leave that argument in 1948.

  2. “Bowling Green Out of the MAC Went On the Road & Won In ACC Country” – The Falcons went down to Georgia and beat Georgia Tech by double digits 38-27. It’s always hard for a MAC team to win out of conference. It is even harder for them to do it on the road against a Power 5 opponent and that is EXACTLY what BG did to an ACC team that is usually a random thorn in the side of some bigger programs, and this time they got stuck.

  3. “We Never Thought We’d See It, But Kentucky Owns Florida” – The Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Florida Gators this past weekend by a final score of 33-14 in Lexington, Kentucky. There used to be a time when one wouldn’t even dream of having UK beat the Gators in football, and now they have beat them 3 times in a row and 4 of the last 6 meetings. The reason I say we never thought we’d see that is because before the latest run for Kentucky, the Florida Gators had won every matchup with them from 1987 until a loss to the Cats in 2018. Florida leads the all-time series 53-21 with zero ties dating all the way back to 1917.
