CFB: The 3 JayBird Talks Week 3 Headlines
“Tennessee Volunteers still can’t survive “The Swamp.” – Ranked at #11 in the country, everyone outside of Florida thought it was finally UT’s time to shine in The Swamp. However, the unranked Florida Gators won 29-16 to hand the Vols their first loss of the season. That’s the 10th straight victory for UF at home in the series. This was supposed to be Tennessee’s year to end that streak, but they couldn’t figure it out.
“Top teams have embarrassing 1st Half performances against significantly lesser teams.” – Although they all ended up winning, it was way more of a struggle than it ever should of been for each of the top-4 in the polls. Georgia was losing to South Caroline at half 14-3, but won 24-14 at home. Then number 2 Michigan was only leading a MAC team at half in Ann Arbor 14-6, but came out in the second half to finish the game with a winning score of 31-6. Florida State sitting at number 3 in the poll squeaked by Boston College with a final of 31-29 on the road, and last but not least the number 4 Texas Longhorns. They were at home to face Wyoming and only had a halftime lead of 10-7, but got the win by a margin of 31-10. Yes, they got the win, but they better figure it out sooner as better opponents won’t fold like that as the schedules get tougher.
“Alabama struggles against who!?” – Again, the Crimson Tide got the win. However, they struggled mightily against South Florida…yes, South Florida. Are we seeing the final fall of the Bama dynasty under Nick Saban right now? The game was tied at 3 at halftime in Florida. Alabama ended up winning 17-3, but if you watched that game you were confused at what you saw from a Saban coached team. This could potentially get very interesting.
