We are less than a week away from the College Football National Championship game as the number one seed Michigan Wolverines take on the number two seed Washington Huskies. Both teams enter the final game of the season undefeated as they each sit at 14-0. UM beat Alabama in the Rose Bowl semifinal 27-20 and UW escaped against the Texas Longhorns in the Allstate Sugar Bowl by a final score of 37-31. The title game is held this year on Monday, January 8th at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas at 8pm EST.
The Michigan Wolverines are currently favored to beat the Huskies as they should be. They’ve looked like the best team in the nation for most of the season, especially as we got into the second half of the season. Michigan has a capable offense that can control the clock and the line of scrimmage. I also give them the nod when it comes to coaching. The Huskies will need to make this a track meet, because that is their strength and I don’t think they have a defense that can shut anyone down so they will have to use Michael Penix Jr and those Receivers to just put up points. The one good thing Washington has is they are absolutely built to come from behind and in a hurry, but I don’t think they’ve seen a defense like Michigan is going to show-up with and I do think Michigan not only wins, but they cover easily and I don’t see if being all that close. My prediction is from top to bottom and both sides of the ball the Wolverines are just too good and they will win their first outright National Title since 1948. They are just the better team and it seems to be their time to shine.
A little history lesson on how long it has been since Michigan football has mattered. Their last title being in 1948 means that Velcro has been invented since then. Harry S. Truman was President of the United States the last time Ann Arbor saw an outright National Title. Ghandi started his fasting and then was assassinated in 1948. Nascar was also founded during that year. There are many more things that are so old it would blow your mind to think they’ve taken this long to get back to relevancy. That is a LONG time! Congrats to the University of Michigan as I fully expect them to walk to the Title.
